About Medical Oncology Services
The Medical Oncology Unit at Monash Health is among the largest in Australia. Offering a comprehensive range of services including inpatient care, outpatient support, chemotherapy infusion, and an extensive clinical trials program. This unit provides thorough cancer care across all types of tumors and medical disciplines. Guided by Monash Health's iCARE values --integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence --the unit is dedicated to delivering best practices and superior management to benefit all patients. Key services include chemotherapy for all solid organ cancers, whether for curative or palliative purposes. Care is delivered at Moorabbin Hospital (including inpatient, outpatient, and infusion services) and at Monash Medical Centre (with clinical trials conducted at the Monash Health Translational Precinct - MHTP and inpatient care).
A Day in the Life
The position offers up to 0.4 EFT consulting at one - two locations.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and demonstrate a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a dynamic and ever-changing environment. They should be capable of not only adapting to change but also leading and driving it within the team. The oncologist will play a key role in both inpatient and outpatient oncology care as per the agreed roster. Specialisation in Thoracic Cancers is required. Responsibilities will also include mentoring, supervising, and managing the performance of oncology registrars and fellows, as well as handling other relevant non-clinical duties. Additionally, the oncologist will support the Director and Deputy Director of Oncology in ongoing service development efforts.
About You
You are a dynamic medical professional, described as enthusiastic and motivated to perform at your best every day, you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
What you need:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians
- Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in the management of oncological disease
- Experience in oncology clinical trials
- Meets Monash Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in oncology
- Experience in teaching and involvement in research
- Experience in writing project applications and supervising project plans
