About Paediatric Cardiology Services   

Paediatric Cardiology Services operate within both MonashHeart and Monash Children’s Hospital and Program. Inpatient care occurs predominantly within Monash Children’s Hospital and outpatient investigations are performed within MonashHeart. Outpatient consultative services are provided though both Monash Children’s Hospital and MonashHeart, with consulting at the Victorian Heart Hospital, Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Outreach consulting services are provided at the Frankston Hospital. Day to day operational matters are managed through MonashHeart.  

 

A Day in the Life  

The post will be as a paediatric cardiologist at Monash Health. This will include provision of ward service at the agreed frequency, consulting services at 2 or more sites and reporting of cardiac investigations at Monash Health. The frequency of ward service and on call may be negotiable by mutual agreement and will attract the relevant EFT. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, with a proven ability to work within a team in a challenging and constantly evolving work environment. They will have the potential, not only to embrace change, but also to initiate and drive change within a team culture. They will assist in the education, supervision and performance management of the cardiology registrars and fellows and other non-clinical duties as appropriate. They will also assist the Head of Paediatric Cardiology Services in the work necessary for ongoing service development.  

 

About You  

You are a dynamic medical professional, described as enthusiastic and motivated to perform at your best every day, you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. What you need:   

  • FRACP or equivalent medical degree registerable in Australia 

  • Training in paediatric cardiology  

  • At least 3 years’ experience at a recognized cardiology training facility 

  • Subspecialty training in fetal echocardiography/ Cardiac MRI 

  • PhD, MD, or intention to complete a higher degree is desirable. 

  • All applicants must be awarded Scope of Clinical Practice (SoP) by the Monash Health Credentialing committee.  Information presented for application will be presented to the committee during the selection process, and all appointments are subject to maintenance of SoP within the clinical services capability framework in the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.  This process must be completed prior to offer of employment.  

Appointment to these position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
