About the Department

Monash Children’s Department of Nephrology cares for infants, children and adolescents with all forms of kidney disease and offers treatment for end stage renal disease including dialysis and transplantation. The Nephrology Department works closely with the urology, endocrinology and rheumatology services within Monash Children’s and has strong links to the Monash Health nephrology service allowing facilitated transition for our young adults.

 

Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist

Monash Children’s Hospital’s Department of Nephrology is seeking a suitably qualified medical practitioner to join the Department.  Applicants must hold Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) with Specialist recognition as a paediatric nephrologist and the position is offered on a fixed term part time basis for 12 months with the option to move to a permanent appointment assuming satisfactory performance.

Fixed term appointment(s): 12 months from commencement date.

 

About the Role

This is a 0.2 EFT fixed term position for 12 months from commencement at the Monash Children’s Hospital. There is an option to move to a permanent appointment after 12 months pending satisfactory performance. The successful applicant must have strong clinical skills in the care of inpatients and outpatients with acute and chronic paediatric renal diseases in a tertiary hospital setting. Experience in the management of peritoneal dialysis, haemodialysis, apheresis, renal transplantation is essential. Experience is also necessary in performing renal biopsies. The successful applicant will attend a weekly clinic and contribute to the ward roster including after-hours cover and on-call. The successful applicant will:

  • deliver high quality, safe, best practice and patient centred care

  • provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care

  • work collaboratively and effectively in a team

  • be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.

  • Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles where possible

  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Paediatric Nephrology Services

 

What you need:

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a paediatric nephrologist

  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications (FRACP or equivalent)

  • Working with Children's Certificate
