About Dandenong and Casey General Paediatric Units
Consultant general paediatricians are the backbone of paediatric care in our outer metropolitan campuses of Monash Children’s Hospital – Dandenong and Casey. They provide the leadership and supervision of care of neonates and children admitted to our Special Care Nurseries and Children’s Wards as well as consultation to the ED and surgical units onsite. They also provide supervision and training for the registrars and HMOs available to provide 24-hour care onsite.
The Dandenong paediatric unit has a 3 cot SCN and an 8 bed Children’s Ward while Casey has a 20 cot SCN and 20 bed Paediatric Ward. Both are supported by teams of dedicated paediatric nurses and onsite Registrars and HMOs. Each site has four consultants who provide 24-hour cover.
About the Role
We are seeking consultant paediatricians interested in working on a casual basis to provide after-hours cover at Dandenong and/or Casey Hospital paediatric units and to cover leave in outpatient clinics. This will ensure paediatric consultant cover for annual and conference leave can be planned well ahead. A commitment to provide regular cover would be anticipated, so that the applicant can become familiar with the local guidelines and facilities. While not available regularly, periods of ward service may be available on occasion.
