About Refugee Health:
Monash Health Refugee Health and Wellbeing operates within a person-centred care framework and embraces the social model of health, responding to both the needs of the local community and emerging population health data. We are committed to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for refugee and asylum seeker communities through integrated, multidisciplinary care.
The Refugee Health Fellow plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality clinical care to people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds with complex health needs. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Fellow contributes to sector capacity building, focusing on medical education, workforce development within Monash Health, and strengthening primary care across Melbourne’s south-east.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Refugee Health, the Refugee Health Fellow supports the provision of high-quality health care for refugees and asylum seekers at Monash Health and across south-east Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive medical assessment and intervention for refugees and asylum seekers with complex health conditions
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including nursing, allied health, and community services.
- Support refugee health nurses in care coordination and clinical decision-making.
- Contribute to medical undergraduate training and education initiatives.
- Build capacity within Monash Health and the primary care sector to improve refugee health responses.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, research, and service development projects.
- Advocate for person-centred, culturally responsive care aligned with the social model of health

What you need:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the RACGP or equivalent
- Working with Children's Certificate.
