About the Role
This senior leadership position supports the Head of Unit in managing Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine across Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Hospital, and Kingston Centre. The Deputy Head of Unit will:
- Drive quality, safety, and patient-centred care initiatives
- Support general and subspecialty anaesthesia development and guideline production
- Coordinate care across ICU, ED, and radiology
- Coordinate activity with the Acute Pain Service
- Assist with the management of patient complaints, Clinical risk management (Riskman) and Serious Adverse Pateint Safety Events.
- Assist with senior medical staff recruitment, orientation, and performance reviews
- Represent the department in organisational meetings and act as delegate for the Service Medical Director
- Contribute to clinical education, research, and governance programs
Role Details
- Full-time, 38 hours/week plus rostered on-call
- 66% clinical, 34% non-clinical
- 5 fixed term tenure with review and extension upon mutual agreement at the end of each term
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical qualification with AHPRA registration
- Fellowship of ANZCA or equivalent
- Experience in medical leadership and operational management
- Strong clinical, teaching, and research expertise
- Commitment to quality, safety, and ethical practice
