About the Department / Program 

 

The Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer provides strategic, professional and operational leadership for Monash Health’s nursing and midwifery workforce of more than 10,000 clinicians. Bringing together the Workforce, Professional Practice, Education, Mental Health Education, Prevention of Violence and Aggression and Practice Improvement teams, the Office drives workforce capability, professional standards, clinical governance, staff safety and continuous improvement. Working in partnership with clinical services across the organisation, the Office supports nurses and midwives at every stage of their career to deliver safe, high-quality and compassionate care for our community.  

  

The Nursing and Midwifery Education team plays a pivotal role in building contemporary, adaptable and highly skilled workforce – one that is confident, supported and inspired to grow. We are passionate about developing clinicians across all stages of their career, from novice to expert.  We create supportive learning environments that inspire curiosity, enhance clinical practice and empower our teams through evidence informed education strategies.   

 

About the Role 

 

Join our team as a Deputy Principal Educator in a part-time, ongoing basis, to work across multiple Monash Health Sites (multiple positions available).   In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Principal Educator and work with the broader Clinical Education team. 

The role is responsible for leading the development, implementation and evaluation of contemporary education strategies that support organisational priorities, clinical excellence and workforce sustainability. Working in partnership with executive, operational and professional leaders (internal and external), you will drive education governance, quality improvement and innovation while ensuring educational programs achieve measurable workforce and patient care outcomes. 

You will provide expert advice on education policy, capability frameworks, learning design and evaluation methodologies, while leading complex projects, influencing system-wide change and supporting the continuous advancement of nursing and midwifery practice. 

This is a Monday – Friday role, with a requirement to travel to and work across various sites. Onsite presence is critical for developing relationships with key operational stakeholders and observing the translation of learning outcomes to patient care. 

 

About You 

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes: 

 

  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with proven experience in a management or leadership role and evidence of leading practice improvement initiatives 

  • Extensive leadership experience in nursing and/or midwifery education within large and complex healthcare organisations 

  • Demonstrated success leading strategic workforce capability and organisational development initiatives 

  • Expertise in education governance, accreditation, curriculum oversight and quality systems 

  • Proven ability to influence executive, clinical and operational leaders to achieve organisational objectives 

  • Strong experience leading large-scale change, innovation and service improvement programs 

  • Advanced capability in educational evaluation, data analytics and performance reporting 

  • Significant experience translating evidence, research and best practice into sustainable organisational outcomes 

  • Highly developed consultation, negotiation and stakeholder management skills across internal and external partnerships 

 

Essential requirements: 

 

  • Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with current AHPRA registration 

  • Postgraduate qualification in Education, Leadership, Management or related discipline 

  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in healthcare education and workforce development 

  • Ability to travel across Monash Health sites as required 

  

Highly desirable: 

  • Master's degree or higher qualification in Education, Leadership, Health Management or related field 

  • Experience leading organisation-wide education strategy and governance frameworks 

  • Professional membership of relevant nursing, midwifery, leadership or education organisations
