Our teams work collaboratively across multiple hospital sites to ensure timely access to care, high standards of safety and quality, and a respectful, supportive experience for every patient. 

 

About the Role 

 

Are you a people-focused administrator who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and supporting patients through an important stage of their healthcare journey? 

Monash Health Elective Surgery Services is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Clerical Staff to join our busy team on a full-time or part-time fixed term basis at Dandenong hospital. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care by delivering efficient, respectful, and reliable administrative support across a range of surgical specialties. 

As an Elective Surgery Clerk, you will play a key role in managing patients on the Elective Surgery Waiting List and supporting a smooth, well-coordinated surgical journey. You will be part of a large, supportive team that values collaboration, accountability, and patient-centred care. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Coordinate and deliver administrative functions related to elective surgery bookings across multiple sites 
  • Manage patient enquiries from referral through to admission 
  • Process Requests for Elective Admission (REA) documentation 
  • Complete accurate data entry and appointment scheduling using systems such as iPM, EMR, SMR, and Outlook 
  • Prepare, collate, and scan patient documentation in line with records management requirements  

 

About You 

 

You bring experience in healthcare administration, with strong computer literacy and a sound understanding of medical terminology and patient administration systems. You will demonstrate well-developed clerical and administrative capability, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving. Highly organised and adaptable, you will thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment, maintain a strong patient-centred focus, and show a genuine commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement. 

 

Key Skills, Experience and Capabilities 

 

  • Proven experience performing a broad range of clerical and administrative functions in a healthcare or similar setting 
  • High-level computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic patient management systems (e.g. iPM/EMR) 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach 
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and priority-setting skills in a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and initiative when responding to changing priorities and challenges 
  • Strong patient and client focus, with a commitment to delivering respectful, timely, and person-centred care
