Monash Health is seeking an experienced Engineer – Asset & Infrastructure to support the development and optimisation of healthcare facilities and critical infrastructure across our extensive network. Working closely with the Engineering and Infrastructure Senior Manager, you will play a key role in managing complex engineering issues and supporting high-value infrastructure projects from feasibility through to commissioning.

About the Role
As an Engineer in our Facilities & Infrastructure team, you’ll contribute to the development of long-term asset management strategies and support the maintenance of critical infrastructure in a healthcare environment. Your work will help ensure asset longevity, operational safety, and sustainable performance across the Monash Health network.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the development of high-quality asset management plans that reduce total cost and extend asset life
- Assist in resolving complex engineering challenges, with a focus on sustainable and emissions-reducing solutions
- Provide technical advice to Facilities Managers and project stakeholders
- Support capital project delivery through feasibility, design input, and commissioning
- Analyse asset lifecycle risk and develop mitigation plans
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, safety standards, and the Asset Management Accountability Framework (AMAF)
- Ensure the accuracy of the Asset Information Management System (AIMS)
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement in environmental sustainability and infrastructure operations
- Manage contractor compliance and support the safe coordination of engineering consultants and trades
- Promote a strong safety culture aligned with Monash Health’s OHS strategy
About You
You are an experienced and solutions-focused engineer with a background in building services or infrastructure projects. You bring a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex challenges in live operating environments. You’re also committed to continuous improvement and passionate about driving sustainable engineering outcomes.
Qualifications & Registrations
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- CPEng accreditation or working towards
- Relevant Business Management qualifications and experience
- 5+ years’ experience working on complex engineering or healthcare infrastructure projects
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of building services, design, and healthcare infrastructure
- Knowledge of building codes, Australian Standards, Essential Safety Measures, and OH&S legislation
- Experience working with Building Management Systems (e.g., Schneider, Johnson Controls)
- Proficiency in technical documentation, calculations, specifications, and inspections
- Skilled in CMMS and asset lifecycle planning
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Confident working with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Sound knowledge of MS Office and engineering-related software
- Experience in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and infrastructure sustainability is desirable
