About the Role 

We're looking for motivated and customer-focused Food Services Assistants to join our teams in a casual capacity across Monash Health. 

The Food Services Assistant plays an important role in supporting the nutritional needs of patients, residents and customers by assisting with food preparation, meal assembly, meal delivery, cleaning and food safety activities. Working as part of the broader Support Services team, you will help ensure the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality food services. 

As part of our workforce, you will: 

  • Prepare and assemble meals in accordance with recipes and dietary requirements. 

  • Assist with meal regeneration, plating and service activities. 

  • Deliver, distribute and collect patient meal trays. 

  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and cleanliness. 

  • Complete food safety documentation and comply with food safety procedures. 

  • Support stock management and replenishment activities. 

  • Clean and sanitise equipment, utensils and work areas. 

  • Work collaboratively with food services, clinical and support service teams. 

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, residents, visitors and staff. 

  • Be available to undertake orientation to the role during November

About You 

You are a reliable, adaptable and customer-focused Food Services Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service. 

To be successful, you will bring: 

  • 12 months experience in the same, or similar role. 

  • Demonstrated experience in food services, hospitality or customer service environments. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Commitment to food safety, quality and hygiene standards. 

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. 

  • Ability to follow instructions and ensure patients and consumers receive meals that align with any special dietary requirements, including allergies and intolerances 

  • Flexibility and adaptability across different work environments and Monash Health sites 

  • Physical capability to undertake manual handling and standing for extended periods. 

  • Current Food Handlers Certificate – Level 1. 

  • Understanding of allergen management practices. 

  • HLTFSE001 Follow Basic Food Safety Practices (or equivalent). 

  • Current Employee Working with Children Check. 

  

Desirable:

  • Qualification relevant to health, hospitality or food services. 

  • Current Victorian Driver Licence. 

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain. 

  • Availability to work at Dandenong and Clayton sites highly regarded.
