About the Role:
Join our team in this unique leadership role as the Food and General Services Manager (F&GS Manager), responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused food and general services at the Victorian Heart Hospital.
This is a full time, Monday to Friday position based at the Victorian Heart Hospital in Clayton, reporting to the Support Services Manager. The F&GS Manager is responsible for managing a significant operational budget, leading the Food Services and General Services team, and ensuring the safety, efficiency and compliance delivery of services including patient services, ward support, departmental provisioning, infection prevention, and achieving and maintaining the highest food safety standards. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing leadership and support to Food and General Services within the Victorian Heart Hospital
- Overseeing staff performance, development, and training compliance
- Management of rostering
- Managing budgets and resources to ensure financial accountability
- Ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with all standards and regulations
About You:
The F&GS Manager role requires an experienced leader with a proven record in managing diverse teams and building strong stakeholder relationships. You will have demonstrated capability in balancing competing demands, managing complex operations, and driving service improvements in line with Monash Health standards. You will have strong communication skills, with the ability to lead change, deliver on key performance indicators, and maintain compliance with safety, accreditation, and food safety standards, are essential.
This role calls for a collaborative and customer-focused approach, with a genuine passion for delivering exceptional experiences for patients, visitors, and employees. The ability to problem-solve effectively, foster positive team culture, and work cohesively with colleagues and external partners is vital. A background in healthcare or hospitality, combined with relevant qualifications in leadership, food safety, or service management, will be highly regarded.
You will also hold the following certificates:
- Relevant qualification in leadership
- Certificate II Food Safety Supervisor
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a leadership role preferably within healthcare or hospitality sector
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable)
- Further qualifications in quality management systems (desirable)
