Head of Digital Planning
Lead strategic digital portfolio planning and build high-performing business analysis capability
About the Service
Monash Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Digital Planning to lead the planning, prioritisation, governance, and optimisation of its Digital and Information Division (DID) investment and project portfolio.
This leadership role combines strategic portfolio oversight with operational leadership of the business analysis function. You will be responsible for shaping digital investment decisions while also leading and developing a team of Business Analysts who support initiative planning across the organisation.
Partnering closely with the Head of Digital Delivery, Head of Advisory Services, DID leadership, business stakeholders, and finance, the Head of Digital Planning will ensure digital initiatives are well-defined, strategically aligned, and positioned for successful delivery.
About The Role
As the Head of Digital Planning, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of portfolio planning frameworks, governance practices, and decision-making processes. You will also lead the Business Analysis practice, building capability, standards, and ways of working that improve the quality and consistency of digital initiative planning across Monash Health. You will provide trusted strategic advice to senior leaders while also providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to a team of Business Analysts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading DID’s digital portfolio planning and prioritisation processes, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and digital priorities.
- Leading and developing the Business Analysis capability and practice, including frameworks, standards, templates, and methodologies.
- Managing the DID portfolio planning process and providing oversight of initiative initiation to ensure initiatives are well-scoped, resourced, and ready for delivery.
- Providing strategic advice to senior leaders on portfolio opportunities, risks, trade-offs, and investment decisions.
- Leading, coaching, and mentoring a team of Business Analysts, supporting their development, performance, and career pathways.
- Building strong relationships across business and technology teams to foster collaboration, transparency, and alignment.
- Supporting resource and capacity planning to optimise the use of funding, capability, and workforce capacity.
- Establishing performance measures and reporting practices to monitor portfolio progress, outcomes, risks, and value delivery.
- Championing continuous improvement and best practice approaches in business analysis, business case development, and project initiation.
This Full Time, ongoing role is based in our hybrid workplace, with at least three days each week on site and flexibility to work from home. Travel across Monash Health sites will be required.
About You

You bring the ability to operate at both a strategic and operational level, providing high-level advice to senior stakeholders while also leading and building the capability of a professional team. With strong commercial acumen, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative leadership style, you will build trusted partnerships across technology, business, and executive teams while developing a high-performing business analysis function.
