About the Role
Join our team as the Head of Music, Art and Child Life Therapy in this key Allied Health leadership position within Monash Health. Reporting to the Director Allied Health, Monash Children’s and working closely with the Chief Allied Health Officer and Allied Health Leadership Committee, you will lead Music Therapy, Art Therapy and Child Life Therapy services across acute, subacute, community and mental health settings.
This is a strategic and operational leadership role where you will:
- Drive high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centred care
- Lead innovative models of care and workforce development
- Embed strong professional governance frameworks
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive and research-focused culture
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading service delivery, workforce and resource management
- Providing professional governance, including scope of practice, credentialing and clinical standards
- Driving innovation, research translation and continuous improvement
- Supporting workforce capability, education and supervision frameworks
- Contributing to strategic planning and organisational initiatives
- Building strong internal and external partnerships
About You
You are an experienced Allied Health leader with a strong track record in service leadership, workforce development and strategic delivery within a complex healthcare environment.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in Music, Art or Child Life Therapy
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, quality and risk management
- Proven experience leading change, innovation and service improvement initiatives
- Highly developed communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
You will need the follow qualifications & experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Music Therapy, Art Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy as set out by the attached Position Description )
- Eligibility for relevant professional association membership
- Would usually have a minimum 10 years clinical experience and 5 years management experience
- Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards) desirable

Music, Art and Child Life Therapies are an integral part of Monash Children's and Allied Health at Monash Health. Our dedicated team delivers innovative, evidence-based and family-centred care that supports the emotional wellbeing, development and healthcare experiences of children, young people and their families. Through a strong culture of collaboration, research, education and clinical excellence, we provide specialised therapeutic services while leading professional practice, workforce development and service innovation across Monash Health's diverse healthcare network.
