About the opportunity

We’re looking for curious, detail-driven, and analytical thinkers who love solving puzzles and making data meaningful.
As a Health Dataset Officer, you’ll play an essential role in ensuring our non-admitted activity is accurately reported to the Department of Health. You’ll help turn complex data into insights that keep Victoria’s largest public health service running smoothly.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work in the VINAH Data Team, supporting the end-to-end reporting cycle through:
- Ensuring our data is accurate, complete, and compliant with Department of Health definitions
- Identifying and correcting data quality issues through audits and remediation
- Supporting the development and improvement of business processes to support data accuracy
- Creating user guides and delivering training to staff across Monash Health
- Testing new or upgraded systems and VINAH extracts to make sure everything works as it should
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders like Specialist Consulting, Clinic Management Advisors and IT
What you’ll bring
- A sharp eye for detail and a love of clean, accurate data
- Strong communication skills — you can explain complex data concepts clearly
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office and patient administration systems (e.g., iPM)
- Understanding of Department of Health reporting rules and Activity Based Funding (ABF)
- A collaborative mindset and willingness to learn new systems and processes
Bonus points if you have:
- A qualification in Health Information Management or similar
- Experience reporting health data to the Department of Health
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
