About the Transition to Speciality - ICU program
Our ICU Transition to Speciality Practice (TSP) Program offers Registered Nurses a supported entry into critical care, delivering structured learning, hands-on experience and a clear pathway toward postgraduate studies in Critical Care Nursing.
Our Intensive Care Units are at the forefront of critical care, catering to a diverse range of patients and medical specializations.
- Monash Medical Centre, Clayton – Adult ICU
A 27 bed tertiary referral unit specialising in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Obstetrics, General Medicine and Surgery, with over 1,900 admissions annually. - Dandenong Hospital – ICU
A 14 bed unit caring for patients across Colorectal, General Surgery, ENT, Orthopaedics, Plastics, Vascular and General Medicine specialties. - Casey Hospital – ICU
A 12 bed Medical/Surgical unit specialising in Urology, Obstetrics and post operative care. - Victorian Heart Hospital – Intensive Cardiac Care Unit
A newly built, state of the art 16 bed unit delivering advanced cardiothoracic care, including a nurse led ECMO service for complex cardiac patients.
About the Role
The ICU TSP Program is a structured, supported transition designed for Registered Nurses with acute care experience who are ready to develop their skills in intensive care.
These part-time (0.84 EFT), fixed-term (6 months) positions commence in August 2026 and are designed to prepare participants for further postgraduate study in critical care.
The program includes:
- Supported clinical shifts within the ICU
- Tutorials and structured learning
- Clinical milestones and assessments
- Ongoing support from dedicated ICU Clinical Educators
As a Registered Nurse in the ICU TSP Program, you will:
- Deliver high quality, evidence based care to critically ill patients
- Develop skills in ventilatory and advanced oxygenation support
- Build confidence in recognising and responding to critical illness
- Apply structured assessment, planning and evaluation of patient care
- Learn in a supportive environment focused on safety, growth and development
About You
We are seeking motivated Registered Nurses with recent demonstrated acute nursing experience, who are eager to make a difference in the lives of critically ill patients.
You are a motivated Registered Nurse who brings:
- Recent or current acute nursing experience
- A commitment to patient centred care and advocacy
- Strong communication and time management skills
Your application must include a resume, a cover letter clearly highlighting your site preference (Casey, Dandenong Hospital, Monash Medical Centre or Victorian Heart Hospital) and reasoning for preference.
