The Intensive Care Units (ICU) at Monash Health are thrilled to invite applications for our specialised Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) program’s February 2025 Intake.
Monash Health is Victoria's largest public health service, committed to excellence in healthcare delivery. Our Intensive Care Units are at the forefront of critical care, catering to a diverse range of patients and medical specialisations.
The Transition to Specialty Practice (TSP) program is run in conjunction with the Monash Medical Centre Clayton and Victorian Heart Hospital ICU sites.
- Monash Medical Centre, Clayton - Adult ICU with 27-bed tertiary referral centre specializing in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Obstetrics, General Medicine, and Surgery, with over 1900 admissions per year
- Victorian Heart Hospital – is a newly built 16-bed cardiac dedicated ICU with cardiothoracic care, complex cardiac failure patients and nurse led EMCO service delivering a new model of care to complex cardiac patients
The ICU TSP is a unique 6-month fixed-term opportunity tailored to nurture and enhance your skills in intensive care nursing. You'll have the chance to work in one of our Intensive Care Units, gaining invaluable experience and knowledge under the mentorship of our expert Clinical Educators.
These are Part-Time (0.8 EFT) Fixed-term roles commencing February 2025 working across supported clinical shifts within the unit, in preparation for further studies within the Critical Care area.

What you will learn:
- Contribute to Patient Care: Learn how to contribute to a safe and effective patient care environment, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety for critically ill patients
- Assessment and Intervention: Master the skills of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions, allowing you to provide comprehensive and individualized care to each patient
- Ventilator and Oxygenation Support: Gain competence in providing competent care to patients requiring ventilatory and oxygenation support, becoming proficient in managing respiratory distress and ensuring optimal patient outcomes
- Critical Illness Awareness: Develop the ability to identify critical illness consequences, recognizing early signs and symptoms to intervene promptly and prevent complications

Here's what we're looking for:
- Commitment to Patient-Centered Care and Advocacy
- Current Acute Nursing Experience
- Strong Time Management and Communication Skills
- Current AHPRA Registration
