About the Role
- Instrument Technician Grade 1 – 4
- Full Time /Part Time - multiple postions
Join our dynamic team as an Instrument Technician on a Permanent Full time/Part time position to work at Monash Medical Centre/ Monash Children’s site based at Clayton. As an Instrument Technician at Monash Health you will be required to:
- Work onsite and be able to work various shifts inclusive of Weekends, Public Holidays and Night Duty
- Decontaminate, Inspect, Assemble and Sterilise Reusable Medical Devices (RMDs) in alignment with AS/NZ 5369 Reprocessing of reusable medical devices in health and non- health related facilities
- Clean and perform High level disinfection of Endoscopes in alignment with GENCA Infection Prevention and Control in Endoscopy 2025
- Transport reusable medical devices to and from the Operating Suite and Endoscopy unit
- Adhere and maintain Infection Prevention and OH&S guidelines and regulations
About Us
We provide essential support to the Clayton Operating Suite, which comprises nine operating theatres and manages a broad range of elective and emergency procedures. These include specialties such as General/Upper GI, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Urology, Plastics, ENT, Facio‑Maxillary, Gastroenterology, Thoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery, transplant procedures, and emergency cases.
Our CSS team also manages endoscope reprocessing across four procedural rooms at both Clayton and Monash Children’s Hospital.
Monash Children’s Hospital includes four operating theatres and manages a wide range of elective and emergency procedures across specialties including General, Urology, Plastics, ENT, Facio‑Maxillary, Gastroenterology, Neurosurgery and Orthopaedics. The facility also includes a procedure room and a dedicated endoscopy area.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Excellent attention to detail, highly organised and ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Excellent team work skills
- Have a good knowledge of Australian/New Zealand Standard 5369 and GENCA guidelines
- Ability to work across all areas of the departments (Decontamination, Packing, Loans, Sterilising and Endoscopy)
You also have:
- Grade 1 - Less than 3 month experience, (fulltime equivalent) as an Instrument Technician and doesn’t hold an Instrument Technician qualification
- Grade 2 - Certificate III in Health-Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent and less than 12 months experience
- Grade 3 - Certificate III in Health-Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent and greater than 12 months experience (full time equivalent)
- Grade 4 - Certificate IV in Sterilising Services and minimum of 3 years’ experience (full time equivalent) as an Instrument Technician in a hospital setting
