About the Role

 

The position of Clayton Emergency Psychiatry Service (EPS) and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry (CLP) Team Manager is a senior leadership role within the organisation and is based within the Clayton Adult Mental Health Directorate.

 

The position is expected to provide both clinical, operational and organizational oversight to these services. This is a full-time ongoing position based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton

 

The successful applicant is expected to have effective leadership and management skills to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders which include the Emergency Department, Emergency Mental Health and Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD), Allied & Peer – EMAAP team, and Emergency Services, as well as team managers within the Clayton Mental Health Program. You will be required to have a strong clinical presence, to ensure that the EPS and CL provides timely and holistic care to our consumer group, which is in keeping with the Royal Commission’s recommendations and Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022

 

The EPS/CL team manager is expected to lead the team in partnership with the Lead Psychiatrist in the Clayton area in achieving the mandated KPI’s within their financial targets, and to provide clear and honest feedback to the Mental Health Program via the Community Mental Health Service Manager – Clayton, Director of Clinical Operations and Unit Head around any challenges and success in achieving this.

 

To ensure that both the EPS and CL teams provide a comprehensive range of innovative, client centered and evidences based interventions, which focuses on improving:

 

  • The mental health of the consumer
  • Ensuring collaboration with the consumer, carer and other key stakeholders to achieve significant treatment goals deemed to be in the best interests of the consumer
  • Best support the team and builds a healthy working environment
  • Supports team engagement and positive consumer/carer outcomes
  • Meet departmental and organisation KPI’s
  • Actively engages in quality and safety improvements

 

The EPS consists of a team that works a 24/7 rotating roster that provides clinical psychiatric expertise to consumers, across the lifespace, who are presenting to the Clayton Emergency Department, requiring acute psychiatric /risk assessment and intervention. CLP provides mental health assessment and support to both patients and wards where a person is admitted to general inpatient beds who require greater mental health expertise than can be provided by the parent unit.
