About the Role 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced nursing or midwifery leader to join Monash Health as the Manager – Monash Health Bureau. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of our Pool and Casual  workforce (excluding medical staff). Reporting to the Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery, you will lead a team of 5.52 FTE (direct reports) and play a key role in workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and governance. 

You will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with relevant legislation (including the Safe Patient Care Act 2015), and contribute to broader initiatives across the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a contemporary, responsive workforce service that supports safe, high-quality care across Monash Health.

About You 

You are a confident and capable leader with: 

  • Significant experience managing large teams in complex healthcare settings. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance development processes. 

  • Strong knowledge of all relevant Victorian public health industrial instruments, casual employment legislation and workforce governance. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service mindset. 

  • Advanced digital literacy, including HR/payroll and shift booking systems. 

  • A postgraduate qualification (or working towards) in Nursing, Midwifery, Leadership, or Management. 

  • Experience managing casual and pool workforces in a tertiary environment within the past 5 years (desireable).

You are adaptable, self-motivated, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

About Workforce and Professional Practice

The Nursing and Midwifery Workforce and Professional Practice team is central to Monash Health’s strategic workforce priorities, professional governance and regulation. We support a range of employment models including casual and pool (through Monash Health Bureau), graduate, and undergraduate workforces. Our team leads workforce planning, recruitment, retention, and professional governance activities, and provides expert advice on employment matters across the nursing and midwifery workforce. 

We also coordinate professional events, support advanced practice roles, and promote professional engagement and recognition across Monash Health.
