About the Role

The Media and Social Media Advisor (Content Creator) works to enhance and protect Monash Health’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading health services. 

Reporting to the Senior Media Manager, the Advisor helps manage Monash Health’s social media presence, creating, developing, and distributing high-quality creative, accessible and engaging content for social media platforms. 

The Advisor also identifies potential news stories and secures positive coverage in local, state, and national media outlets, as well as in Monash Health’s owned channels (internal and external facing). The Advisor arranges and facilitates media opportunities across our campuses and ensures spokespeople are well briefed before engaging with journalists. 

The Advisor is part of a rotating team that monitors the 24/7 Monash Health Media Line, receiving calls from internal and external sources seeking media advice or information. 

As part of an integrated Communications unit, this role also assists across a broad range of areas including web, digital/multimedia, brand management, change and internal communications. 

 

Key result areas: 

  • Lead the creation of rich and innovative content tailored to social media, that builds the reputation of Monash Health, and awareness of its services. 

  • Champion best practise on our social media platforms. Continually look for ways to improve our social media content and encourage others to do the same. 

  • Identify, develop, and secure positive media stories, across a range of media outlets and for Monash Health’s owned publishing channels in support of the organisation’s strategic priorities. 

  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with local, state and national media. 

  • Provide communications advice and support to leaders and colleagues. 

  • Protect the reputation of Monash Health through risk management and crisis communications. 

  • Lead the planning and facilitating of events such as Ministerial visits or media-centred events. 

  • Be a part of a rotating team that monitors the 24/7 Monash Health Media Line. 

  • Work with the Senior Media Manager to develop Monash Health’s media and social media strategies. 

  • Prepare media coverage reports with insights and analysis.
