About the Role


Join Monash Health’s high-performing Communication and Engagement team as a Media and Social Media Advisor, and play a key role in shaping how one of Australia’s leading health services shows up in the public eye. 


In this dynamic role, you’ll help enhance and protect Monash Health’s reputation by identifying compelling stories, securing positive media coverage across local, state and national outlets, and bringing those stories to life across our owned channels. Reporting to the Senior Media Manager, you will coordinate media opportunities across our campuses from end to end. This includes pitching stories, managing enquiries, and ensuring spokespeople are well prepared and confident when engaging with journalists. 


You will also support and grow our social media presence by creating and delivering high-quality, accessible and engaging content that connects with our audiences and reflects the scale and impact of our work. As part of a rotating team, you will contribute to the 24/7 Monash Health Media Line, providing timely, professional advice and support to internal and external stakeholders. Working within an integrated Communications team, you will also contribute across a broad mix of areas, including web, digital and multimedia, brand, change and internal communications. This is a varied, fast-paced role with real impact. 

 


About You:

  • Degree in Journalism, Media, Communications, Public Relations, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
  • Over 2 years’ experience in Public Relations, Media, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Working with Children Check

 

Technical skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Experience in a communications role that was predominantly focused on public relations, media, social media and/or issues management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write and edit for a variety of mediums, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of social media and how to deliver excellence on different platforms.
  • Proven ability to film, edit and produce video content. This includes graphics, subtitles and short-form copy.
  • Ability to compose, take and edit quality photographs.
  • Demonstrated ability to absorb complex information and re-present it simply.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key points appropriate for different audiences and emphasise those effectively.
