About the Role
An opportunity is available for a Medical oncologist /clinical geneticist in the Monash Familial Cancer Service. The successful applicant will provide outpatient clinical services to patients seeking the advice of the Familial Cancer Clinic at Monash Health. The applicant will show clinical leadership through supervision of fellows, registrars and genetic counsellors as required, and more widely by supporting colleagues in other disciplines and engaging in academic, research and educational activities as appropriate to their role as requested by the Unit.
- To provide high quality medical care and advice on the topic of Familial Cancer to patients and families of Monash Health.
- To assist in the supervision and education of junior colleagues and genetic counsellors.
Key result areas:
- Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
- Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
- Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles in the FCC Monash Health, and in the wider hospital network.
- Support the FCC's outreach services as required
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible care within allocated resources and meets the needs of Monash Health patients.

- Operational / clinical quality and safety
- Carry out compliance and improvement against the key elements of quality and safety
- Be responsible for quality of care at point of care
- Contribute to the provision of excellence in clinical services, research, education and knowledge transfer
- Contribute to processes ensuring patients receive high quality services and continuity of care, and that high quality clinical standards and clinical outcomes and risk management approaches and accreditation requirements are achieved.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a high quality multidisciplinary team, appropriate access to the FCC and using open communication, collaborative working relationships and professional behaviors at all times.
- Duties as outlined in the relevant Enterprise Agreement
- Build supportive relations with Junior Medical Staff who report to you and encourage open communication including escalation of clinical and non-clinical concerns.
- There is no on call or inpatient ward service associated with this position
About You
Qualifications/ registrations/ licenses
Essential:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Fellowship of the RACP
- Working with Children's Certificate/Police Check
