About the Role  

Join our team as a Mental Health Clinician on a part time 0.5EFT, fixed term (21st September 2026- 19 September 2027), to work at CASEA based at Oakleigh.

In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of Nadia Rakiposki, the Manager, and will be working with the broader CASEA team.

The Monash Health CAMHS and Schools Early Action (CASEA) Program is a joint initiative with the Infant, Child, Family and Youth Area Mental Health Service, the Department of Health, Department of Early Education and Childhood Development (DEECD) and Catholic Education Office of Melbourne (CEOM). Designed as an early intervention program, the CASEA program is delivered in school settings to children identified as being at risk of developing significant behavioural and emotional difficulties, including Conduct Disorder and related emotional challenges such as anxiety, low mood, and difficulties with emotional regulation. The program adopts a universal approach, incorporating professional development for teachers, ongoing upskilling through secondary consultation, and the delivery of group programs for children and parents identified as being at risk.  

The key components of the role include:  

• Provision of group interventions to children and parents identified in collaboration with education staff and working in collaboration with education staff to deliver these interventions  

• The identification and assessment of children and parents for suitability for group interventions, undertaken in collaboration with education staff.  

• Provision of therapeutic support to the ‘system’ around the young person in a collaborative and reflective partnership with other involved agencies.  

• Primary and Secondary Consultation  

• Education and Training to education staff  

• Facilitation and coordination of appropriate referrals following assessment to relevant mental health service providers (primary care, public or private mental health service sector), where CASEA group interventions are deemed inappropriate.  

• Working collaboratively as a member of the CASEA multidisciplinary team and sharing team duties  

About You   

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:  

• Compassionate and highly skilled mental health professional with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, ethical standards, and ongoing professional development  

• Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and effectively with young people, families, carers, and key stakeholders in a culturally sensitive manner  

• High level of professionalism, with strong interpersonal and communication skills  

• Sound understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and the Children, Youth and Families Act, and the ability to apply this in clinical practice  

• Proven capability in conducting comprehensive assessments, clinical formulation, and diagnosis  

• Experience in developing and implementing collaborative, client-centred treatment and care plans  

• Ability to manage complex cases, including undertaking risk assessments and delivering crisis interventions  

• Capacity to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team  

• Advanced communication and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to build trust and support coordinated care  

• Commitment to contributing to service development, clinical supervision, and continuous quality improvement initiatives  

• Strong skills in maintaining accurate, timely, and high-quality clinical documentation and reporting  

• Demonstrated commitment to early intervention, prevention, and recovery-oriented practice  

• Genuine passion for improving outcomes and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people experiencing mental health challenges  

Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships,
