About ELMHS 

ELMHS provides a range of mental health services to pregnant mothers, infants, children and adolescents and their families within the Southern Region.  

The organisational and clinical model has been developed to provide mental health care that is flexible and responsive to the individual and developmental needs of the perinatal to youth populations and their families.  As such, this model will support the provision of integrated mental health care for young people, guided by consistent, service-wide protocols and principles of care. We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician / Care Coordinator for a full-time ongoing role based at Monash Children’s Hospital. 

 

About Stepping Stones  

The Monash Children’s Stepping Stones Adolescent In patient Unit is a 15 bed inpatient and five transition (Day) bed unit that offers care for adolescents aged 12 to 18 from broader ELMHS. The Adolescent Unit offers mental health Interventions to adolescents who present with acute and severe mental health problems, associated high risk factors and have difficulty maintaining their own safety and the safety of others.  

 

About the Role 

The role is that of a Mental Health Clinician with training, qualifications and experience in assessing and treating young people with mental health problems.  This position is a Mental Health Clinician specific role in the Stepping Stones Adolescent Inpatient Unit and Transition program within the broader Early in Life Mental Health Service, Monash Health.  Stepping Stones provides mental health interventions to children and adolescents who present with acute and severe mental health problems, associated high risk factors and have difficulties maintaining their own safety and the safety of others. The key components of the Mental Health Clinician role within the Stepping Stones Unit includes:  

  • Care Coordination for Stepping Stones Unit and Transition program patients. 

  • Group facilitation in unit group program. 

  • Facilitate discipline specific professional development sessions when required. Provide specific therapeutic interventions with adolescents and carers - working within individual, group, and family contexts.  

  • Contribute to clinical innovation, planning and education/training initiatives. 

  • Formulate a treatment plan containing specific goals, objectives, evidence-informed treatment strategies, timeframes, the responsibilities of other team members and success indicators. 

This is a Mental Health Clinician positions classified as follows: Occupational Therapist Grade: YB20 – 23, Social Worker Grade 2: YC42 - 45, Speech Pathology: YB47 - 50. Occupational Therapists are highly encouraged to apply.
