Temporary 1 EFT Mental Health Clinician position.
Early in Life Mental Health Services (ELMHS) provides assessment and treatment for infants, children, adolescents, young people and their families. We work with the 0-18 age group in the Southern Region. We provide a comprehensive assessment service and a range of treatment options including inpatient treatment in times of crisis, community (outpatient) treatment, group programs, family therapy, and specialist services. We work with families in addressing a number of complex issues that families may be experiencing including school refusal, parent/child relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma related issues, self-harm, suicidal thinking, eating disorders, neuro developmental presentations and psychosis.
About the Role
The Paediatric Consultation Liaison (Paediatric CL) Psychiatry team is a dynamic team that provides specialist mental health assessments for infants, children and adolescents who are admitted as medical inpatients and require mental health support and intervention. Paediatric CL provides both consultation and liaison services to a range of medical and surgical teams and a variety of paediatric wards across three main Monash Health hospital sites. The team also supports the emergency departments at Dandenong and Casey with secondary consultation for paediatric patients presenting with mental health concerns. Clinicians are primarily based at Monash Childrens Hospital however will travel to Casey and Dandenong Hospital as needed.
This is a parental leave backfill position (1 EFT) which will primarily be based at Monash Childrens Hospital with the expectation that clinicians provide support to Casey and Dandenong Hospital sites as needed. You will work within a team of senior mental health clinicians, team manager and consultant psychiatrist. The role will facilitate specialist mental health assessments and consultation liaison support to the general paediatric medical wards and work closely with the Paediatric Emergency Psychiatry Service Team at Clayton. The team provide regular consultation in ward rounds, psychoeducation and reflective spaces to staff from Monash Children's Hospital. Senior clinicians also have the opportunity provide supervision to staff and students within ELMHS. This role will suit you if you have a desire in developing your leadership and clinical skills while supporting young people with complex medical and mental health difficulties, and bridging the gap between community and hospital supports.
About You
We are seeking clinicians who are autonomous yet also able to utilise multidisciplinary supports offered within a high functioning senior team. You are highly adaptable to suit the needs of a dynamic acute setting and able to provide timely assessment, safety planning and consultation to patients, families and relevant services. We are looking for individuals who are interested in providing systemic containment, education and support predominantly to medical systems of care as well as to community services. Applicants with an interest in building their existing knowledge and experience working with young people presenting with eating disorders, functional neurological disorders, attachment difficulties, anxiety, phobias, depression, psychosis and risk issues are encouraged to apply.
