About the role:
We're excited to offer an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager in the General Medicine Ward (Ward 40) at Monash Medical Centre.This full-time, permanent role allows you to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager Medicine, the NM will provide clinical leadership and operational management of the unit and will be responsible for delivering safe, quality clinical patient care standards and ensuring that patients receive exceptional care.
The role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the unit, ensuring timely patient access to the unit, the effective utilisation of financial resources and fostering a safe working environment for staff.
With proven people management skills, the NM will lead by example and inspire their team to perform at their best whilst working collaboratively with all key stakeholders.
This role demands a committed and flexible leader who is comfortable operating in a fluid environment and can rapidly and effectively respond to changing circumstances.
About Us:
Ward 40 provides holistic care to General Medicine patients accommodating up to 20 patients. Patients are admitted to General Medicine with a wide variety of acute medical problems who can be discharged to a variety of settings including home, other health care services and aged care services.
We pride ourselves on the delivery of high-quality care and strive for positive outcomes and experiences for our patients and staff. We support the care of patients with a wide variety of presentations both clinically and psychosocially.
About You:
As an accomplished nursing leader, you have a genuine passion and a proven track record of clinical leadership. You are a high achiever with a proven ability to deliver successful outcomes across service delivery, resource management, and professional and technical competence areas. You communicate effectively; and are able to build rapport and engage with others at all levels to deliver outcomes in a timely manner.
This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent nursing and leadership skills and demonstrated expertise in the delivery of clinical excellence in a professional manner.
Demonstrated experience in managing a multidisciplinary team, excellent communication skills and the ability to strategically plan will be essential to your success in this position. You thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based nursing care to all patients.

- demonstrated management and clinical leadership experience, ideally in a similar role
- a high level of proficiency with a range of technology solutions
- proven time management, superior communication and influencing skills
- critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- genuine thirst for learning and open to further study
- a commitment to proactively support colleagues at all levels as well as mentor a team
What you need:
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
- Proven experience leading and managing a team
- Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated acute nursing experience
- Successful leadership of continuous improvement initiatives as they relate to National Standards
- A relevant postgraduate qualification or working towards the same is desirable
