About the Role
Join our team as a Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) on a Part time, ongoing capacity to work at The Monash Children’s Hospital based at Clayton.
Under the supervision of the Paediatric Oncology Medical and Nurse Practitioner team, the Nurse Practitioner Candidate (NPC) is required to ensure the provision of coordinated, safe and effective care for children undergoing treatment for cancer.
The Nurse Practitioner Candidate role is pivotal within Paediatric Oncology to support standardisation of practice across the medical and nursing teams, contribution to research and quality improvement and provide oncology expertise.
- Patient assessment and care co-ordination and support
- Gain experience in enhancing your clinical decision making skills, and provide leadership, teaching and support to the Nursing and Medical team
- Role modelling and staff engagement through ongoing communication within the team
About Us
The Monash Children’s Cancer Centre (MCH-CCC), located within Monash Children’s Hospital, and is one of two Victorian centres who provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to children and young people diagnosed with a wide range of oncological and serious haematological conditions. As a level 5 healthcare service we have the capability to provide complex, multimodal treatment, encompassing a plethora of multidisciplinary expertise to not only provide optimal supportive care management while on treatment but also to minimise the long-term impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis.
About You
You are an experienced paediatric oncology nurse with advanced knowledge and skills.
Ideally, you have post-graduate qualifications in oncology. Haematology or paediatric nursing, and you have experience managing the needs of complex patients.
You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based nursing care to all patients. You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles.
What You Need:
- Relevant Qualifications in Oncology, Haematology or paediatric nursing
- Successful completion of or working towards Master of Nurse Practitioner qualification
- Demonstrated experience in paediatric oncology
- Experience in a senior nursing role
- Current AHPRA nursing registration
