About Monash Health Women’s and Newborn
Monash Women’s provides obstetrics and gynaecology services within Monash Health. It is the largest maternity service in the State of Victoria, providing care to nearly 12,000 births each year across four hospitals (Monash Medical Centre Clayton, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital and Sandringham Hospital) as an integrated, seamless service for pregnancies ranging from low risk to those with complex and sub-specialty needs.
Gynaecology is provided across all Monash Health hospital campuses, including community hospitals and outpatient services. A broad range of services are provided through our centres of excellence in endometriosis and advanced endo-surgery, pelvic floor, gynaecology oncology, and paediatric and adolescent care.
About the Role
There is a unique opportunity for a women’s health focussed General Practitioner to join the Monash Women’s team in the Monash Pregnancy Choices (MPC) clinic, as part of the expansion of termination of pregnancy (TOP) services.
We are seeking a vocationally registered GP with a passion for women’s health who can deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed sexual and reproductive health care. You will be providing medical abortion care, as well as assessing patients for surgical TOP and contraception needs including long-acting reversible contraception (LARCs). Our supportive multidisciplinary team includes gynaecologists, nurses and social workers.
Successful applicants will:
- Participate in the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred TOP services, consistent with Monash Health values.
- Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
- Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
- Support academic, research, education, training & supervision (both undergraduate and postgraduate) roles within the Women’s Health Program.
- Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical innovation to ensure Monash Health provides accessible, safe, and patient-centred TOP services.
Flexibility: clinic sessions are available at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton on Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and Thursday mornings. The available clinic sessions may be allocated to multiple clinicians and there is flexibility in how these hours can be assigned. Applicants are encouraged to express interest in one or multiple sessions and clearly specify their availability.
What you need:
- Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent
- FRACGP or equivalent
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Current Working with Children’s Check

Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and are required to provide acceptable evidence of their vaccination status. The current orders require evidence of three doses.
