Grade 2 Occupational Therapist | Acute Paediatrics | Monash Children’s Hospital
About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Paediatric Occupational Therapy team at Monash Children’s Hospital. This is a part time (19hrs per fortnight/0.2EFT), fixed term role, until September 2027.
Working across our inpatient services, you’ll provide assessment, intervention and discharge planning for infants, children and adolescents with a diverse range of acute and complex medical, surgical and neurological presentations. You’ll manage and prioritise your own caseload while working closely with children, families and multidisciplinary teams to support functional outcomes and safe, timely discharge.
Your role will include:
- Providing evidence-based assessment and intervention across acute paediatrics
- Supporting developmental, functional and equipment needs
- Contributing to complex discharge planning and continuity of care
- Collaborating with medical, nursing, allied health and community services
- Supporting Grade 1 OTs and Occupational Therapy students
- Contributing to quality improvement and service development
This position forms part of our six-day Occupational Therapy service, working each Friday and two Saturday mornings per month. You’ll also work alongside the Senior Clinician to support the ongoing development and improvement of the Saturday service.
About You
You’re an Occupational Therapist with acute care experience who enjoys variety, collaboration and working in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will bring:
- Occupational Therapy qualifications and current AHPRA registration
- Experience providing Occupational Therapy services in an acute setting
- Strong clinical reasoning and caseload prioritisation skills
- Experience with developmental and functional assessment
- Knowledge of equipment prescription to support safe discharge
- Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
Experience across areas such as orthopaedics, general medicine, oncology, neurology, intensive care, renal or adolescent medicine will be highly regarded.
