About Monash Haematology and Clinical Trials

Monash Haematology is a dynamic academic department that integrates the best evidence base into routine patient care. We provide haematology care to a population of approximately 1.3 million, making ours one of the largest services in Australia. Haematology Clinical Trials plays a central role, facilitating patient participation in the full spectrum of clinical research. Haematology currently administers over 120 active trials open across phase I/first in human, II and III in both malignant haematology, cellular therapies (including chimeric antigen T (CAR-T) cell therapy), haemostasis, thrombosis and other classical haematology streams (e.g., haemoglobinopathy and autoimmune conditions).

Clinical trial patients are primarily treated and followed up within the Monash Health Translation Precinct (MHTP) – a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility that opened in March 2016. The clinical trials floor in the MHTP is a uniquely trials-dedicated facility with eight beds, 21 chairs, dedicated laboratory facilities, trials pharmacy, and medical imaging.  It is located proximal to research laboratories of the Hudson Institute and Monash University, providing additional access to specialised samples processing capabilities and analytical technologies.

Monash Health Haematology provides a world class service, with clinical trials and translational research at its heart. The ability to attract new trials and to establish a broad range of cutting-edge sponsored, co-operative group and investigator-led studies across a range of disease types and new therapies has been essential to our success.
