About the Role
The Operations Manager – Surgery, Monash Medical Centre Clayton plays a pivotal role in leading and overseeing high-quality, responsive surgical care across 3 inpatient areas Ward 33, Ward 34, Ward 54, and the Day Procedure Unit/Transit Lounge. Clinical specialities include General Surgery, ENT, Vascular, Gynaecology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology and Renal services including transplants.
Reporting to the Operations Director, if appointed, you will take responsibility for the strategic, clinical, and operational management of designated services. This includes:
- Driving high-quality patient outcomes and service performance
- Leading and developing a skilled and engaged workforce
- Managing financial performance and resource allocation
- Promoting innovation and contemporary models of care
- Ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and governance standards
- Building strong, enduring relationships with internal and external stakeholders
These roles play a pivotal part in shaping the behavioural framework and workplace culture, empowering the workforce to embrace innovation, adopt contemporary care models, and explore new service opportunities.
These positions are based onsite and operate during normal business hours, Monday to Friday. Some travel between Monash Health sites will be required and a current Driver’s Licence is a mandatory requirement.
About You
You’re an experienced healthcare leader with a background in nursing, midwifery, allied health, or a related discipline, and registration (or eligibility) with AHPRA.
You bring:
- Proven experience in leading operational and clinical teams within complex hospital environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- A collaborative leadership style that inspires trust and engagement
