About Dental Surgery Unit 

The Specialist Dentistry Unit at Monash Medical Centre Clayton provides hospital-based specialist dental services to eligible patients, including the dental management of medically-compromised patients or complex congenital craniofacial anomalies. The Unit actively participates as part of the Cleft and Craniofacial Anomalies multi-disciplinary team, providing orthodontic and dental treatment in conjunction with other surgical and allied health teams. The Unit works in close association with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service to provide comprehensive combined management of these patients. 

The Dental Unit also has 2 full-time junior resident/registrar level staff, who provide both rostered and after-hours on-call cover to Monash Health sites. 

  

About the Role:

  • To support and assist the Director of the Department of Dental Surgery Unit, Monash Health in the provision of high quality
  • Specialist Orthodontic Services at Monash Health sites, consistent with the Monash Health values.
  • Provide clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care.
  • Be available to medical colleagues for consultation and liaison as appropriate regarding patient care.
  • Support academic, research, education, training & supervision roles in the Dental Surgery Unit, Monash Health.
  • Contribute to the professional and corporate life in Victoria's largest public health service by participation in appropriate committees and educational platforms.
  • Contribute to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation to ensure Monash Health provides high quality accessible Orthodontic Services.

About You 

What you need:

  • Specialist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications (BDS, DDS or similar)
  • Post-graduate Orthodontic qualification (MDS, DClinDent or similar)
  • Working with Children's Certificate 

 

Offers of employment can only be made once all required probity checks have been completed. These include: 

  • Reference checks;
  • A clear Police Check conducted within the last three months;
  • A current Victorian Employee Working with Children's Check (or proof of payment for same); and
  • Proof of immunisation.

The incumbent must complete the Credentialing and Scope of Practice process prior to appointment and commencement. This will be reviewed on a regular basis.
