About Us 

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. We provide safe, high-quality care to one-quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire lifespan, from pre-birth to end-of-life. The Overseas Visitor Accounts team part of Revenue Services Finance department and work primarily across Clayton, Dandenong and Casey hospitals. This is an on-site role requiring effective communication at all levels including patients and their families, clinicians, insurers and colleagues in other areas. High level negotiation skills are also essential to this role.  

 

About the Role 

Join our team as an Overseas Patients Liaison and Billing Officer in a part time ongoing position, based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton Campus. 

Some of the duties include:  

  • Performing insurance fund checks on Medicare non-eligible patients. 

  • Requesting pre-deposits from patients with inadequate insurance coverage 

  • Ensuring that invoices are managed in accordance with protocols. This includes invoicing charges, sending to the appropriate party and performing debt collection. 

  • Ensuring that billing corrections are carried out in a timely and accurate manner. 

  • Addressing enquiries from patients, health insurers, billing agents, external and internal departments.  

  • Other administrative tasks as required 

  • You may be required to work at any of the Monash Health Sites 

 

About You 

You will have a proven ability to learn and apply knowledge related to customer service and excel at multitasking with keen attention to detail. You demonstrate critical self-evaluation and reflection, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanour, and exhibit consistent and reliable performance. Building and maintaining relationships across various levels of the organisation will be second nature to you and is crucial to this role. You must be willing and able to work at any of our campuses when required. Although specific knowledge and experience regarding Medicare Non-Eligible patients, insurance and funding types are not required, you must be able to learn and understand these aspects. To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge:  

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in billing, receipting and banking 

  • Demonstrated experience in handling difficult situations, the ability to de-escalate situations and resolve complaints in an effective manner 

  • Competency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • High level customer service and negotiation skills 

  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team 

  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines 

Desirable:

  • Prior Experience with PBRC and iPM
