About the Paediatric Surgical Unit
Monash Children's Hospital have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic General Paediatric Surgeon to join our team. The role is for 0.5 EFT/19 hours per week. The successful candidate must adhere to the competencies as defined by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

The successful applicant will work with a supportive, established team of staff delivering excellence in surgical care to the paediatric population of south-east Victoria. Monash Children's Hospital is the third largest children's hospital in Australia, performs approximately 3,000 procedures a year and is home to the largest neonatal unit in Victoria. In addition to close co-operation with general, regional and subspecialist paediatricians we provide a consultation service to the feto-maternal unit within Monash Health.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

-Inpatient and outpatient general surgical care to children

-Participation in an on call roster, currently 1 in 8

-Participation in service development within the unit and development of research projects and lead quality initiatives

-Other duties will include supervision of junior medical staff and provision of training and education to department, other MCH staff and medical students.  In consultation with the Head of Department and other staff, the appointee will ensure all services are maintained and delivered in line with the MCH wide philosophy and culture of patient and family centred care, vision and values.

Applicants must have a demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team, possess excellent communication and leadership skills, have FRACS or equivalent College Fellowship and have specialist medical registration with AHPRA.
