About the Role:
Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant on a permanent part time ongoing basis and a fixed term basis to work at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. These roles have responsibility for the effective provision of ward based support to Nursing in the delivery of patient care and incorporates cleaning and patient meal services, patient transfer between wards, mortuary transfers and can involve patient lifting & turning inpatient bed areas under the direction of Nursing/Midwifery employees. The roles will provide a high quality, customer focused service to internal and external customers. Efficient communication and timely responses to requests for service are paramount for this position in achieving sustainable service delivery. The ideal candidate will enjoy working within a committed team who strive to consistently deliver high quality and efficient cleaning services and patient care.
In these roles, you will be rostered to work the following shifts each week subject to the position(s) selected below. Please indicate the number of the role/s you wish to apply for in order of preference in your application.
1. PSA - Ward based
8hrs hours per fortnight
Every second Thursday 06:30 - 15:00
2. PSA - Ward based
8hrs hours per fortnight
Thrursdays 06:30 - 10:30
4. PSA - Endoscopy
45 hours per fortnight
Monday to Friday 16:00 - 20:30
5. PSA - Endoscopy
45 hours per fortnight
Monday to Friday 16:00 - 20:30
6. PSA - Haemodialysis
30 hours per fortnight
Monday & Tuesday 14:00 - 2200
7. PSA – Emergency Department
48 hours per fortnight
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 06:30 - 1500
8. PSA – Emergency Department
8hrs hours/fortnight
Every second Wednesday 14:15 -22:45
Your responsiblilities will include, but are noy limited to:
• Ward and department cleaning
• Patient transfers
• Bed making
• Use of lifting equipment, bed mover and wheelchairs
• Assisting nursing staff as requested
• Transfer and cleaning of ward equipment
• Ward errands
9. PSA – Lifting Team
80 hours per fortnight
07:30 – 16:00 (Monday, Thursday-Sunday)
Your responsiblilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Mortuary Transfers
• Repositioning patients
• Assisting Nursing staff transferring patient in or out of bed • Bed moves within ICU and wards
• Use of manual handling equipment (hoists, gazundas, hover mats etc)
About Us:
Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.
About You:
• Certificate III Health Services Assistant (Essential)
• Previous experience as a Patient Services Assistant (Desirable)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
• Takes pride in your work with great attention to detail
• Has great time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks
• Excellent understanding of patient identification procedures
• Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and procedures
• Able to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
• Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures
• A strong commitment to working effectively as part of a team
