About the Role:      

Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant (PSA) on a full time / part time ongoing basis to work at Victorian Heart Hospital, based in Clayton.

 

Being part of the Support Services team and reporting to the General Services Manager, PSAs play a vital role in supporting clinical team in the delivery of patient care. PSAs do a range of tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning, patient transfers, and equipment handling. Working as part of a team and on their own, PSAs are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and patient support across the hospital.

 

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans
  • Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs
  • Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.
  • Bed making and discharge cleans
  • Patient discharge assistance
  • Mortuary transfers
  • Ward equipment, cleaning and transferring
  • Supporting clinical staff with patient care tasks as directed
  • Physical work including lifting and manual handling

 

 

We are seeking PSA’s to join our Team. In this is a patient-facing role the PSA will be on-call to the clinical team to provide support as required, this can include but is not limited to: transferring patients from one area to another, discharge cleaning, food collection, blood transfer to pathology, assist with cleaning. In quieter times, PSA’s should do daily and general cleans of the wards and patient areas. 

 

We currently have the following opportunities available:

Position 1

Days: Tuesday & Sunday, Week 1, 3, 4 Monday

Hours: 22:30 – 7:00

Total Hours per fortnight: 44 hours

 

Position 2

Days:  Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday

Hours: 6.30 - 15.00

Total Hours per fortnight: 64 hours

 

Position 3

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 12:00 – 20:30

Total Hours per fortnight: 76 hours

 

 

About You:

To ensure your success in this role, you will bring experience in patient services within a hospital, aged care or commercial cleaning setting with strong demonstrated knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices. You will have a passion for patient care and approach patients with respect and empathy. You are a reliable and punctual team member with great verbal and written communication skills; as well as intermediate computer skills. Whether you work independently or as part of a team; you always follow manual handling, safety protocols, and procedural instructions.

You will also hold a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance.
