About the Role

Join our team as a Patient Services Assistant on a part time , ongoing basis to work at The Victorian Heart Hospital based in Clayton.  In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the General Services Manager and working with the broader Support Services team.

PSAs play a vital role in supporting clinical team in the delivery of patient care. PSAs do a range of tasks including, but not limited to, cleaning, patient transfers, and equipment handling. Working as part of a team and on their own, PSAs are responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and patient support across the hospital.

Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Daily ward cleaning, discharge room cleans, and unscheduled cleans
  • Patient transfers using equipment such as hoists, slides, bed movers and wheelchairs
  • Ensuring adherence to infection prevention protocols at all times.
  • Bed making and discharge cleans
  • Patient discharge assistance
  • Mortuary transfers
  • Ward equipment, cleaning and transferring
  • Supporting clinical staff with patient care tasks as directed
  • Physical work including lifting and manual handling

 

 

We are currently recruiting for the below positions:

Position 1

Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Hours: 22:30 - 07:00

Total hours per fortnight: 64

 

Position 2

Days: Wednesday

Hours: 22:30 - 07:00

Total hours per fortnight: 16

 

About You

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Experience in patient services within hospital, aged care or cleaning settings
  • Strong knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices
  • Passion for patient care, consistently demonstrating respect and empathy
  • Reliable and punctual team member with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills to support daily tasks and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Committed to following manual handling, safety protocols and procedural instructions

 

Mandatory requirements of the role

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
