About the Department / Program

Monash Health Pharmacy provides comprehensive medication management services across a large and diverse health network, supporting safe, effective and patient-centred care.

 

The Clinical Trials Pharmacy team plays a critical role in supporting research across Monash Health. The team ensures the safe and compliant management of investigational medicines, provides expert advice on trial design and feasibility, and partners with researchers, sponsors and clinical teams to deliver high-quality clinical trial services that support innovation and improved patient outcomes.

 

About the Role

As the Pharmacist Team Leader – Clinical Trials, you will work across Monash Health sites on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term basis. Working closely with the Assistant Deputy Director of Pharmacy – Victorian Heart Hospital and Clinical Trials, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Clinical Trials Pharmacy services, ensuring high standards of quality, governance and regulatory compliance.

 

You will collaborate with investigators, sponsors and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate the effective management of investigational medicines and support the successful delivery of clinical research activities across the health service.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospital pharmacist to lead a specialised service, influence medication management within clinical research, and contribute to innovation and improved patient outcomes across Monash Health.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of Clinical Trials Pharmacy services
  • Providing expert review, costing and quotation of clinical trial pharmacy services
  • Ensuring compliant management of investigational medicines, including documentation and stock control
  • Driving quality, safety and service improvement aligned with regulatory and organisational requirements
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including research teams, sponsors and clinical staff
  • Leading, supporting and developing a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver high-quality services

 

This role requires flexibility to work across Monash Health sites and participate in broader pharmacy service activities as required.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to inspire, support and develop high-performing teams
  • Extensive hospital pharmacy experience, ideally with exposure to clinical trials or research services
  • Well-developed communication, stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Experience in quality improvement, governance and safe medication practices
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver service and financial outcomes

 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Relevant hospital pharmacy experience
  • Evidence of required employment screenings and immunisations in line with Monash Health policy
