About the Department / Program
Monash Health Pharmacy is a diverse and dynamic team of over 500 professionals. We work across seven hospitals and community settings, delivering best-practice pharmacy services and supporting career development through structured rotations, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
About the Role
We’re looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacy students to join our team as a Casual Bank Technicians, working across our Monash Health hospital sites. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Pharmacy Technician Team Leaders, working with the broader pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred medication supply services. Our pharmacy team will provide a supportive learning environment, enabling you the opportunity to broaden your understanding of the dynamic hospital pharmacy environment, allowing you to determine if you would like to pursue a hospital pharmacy internship.
Key responsibilities include
- Maintaining appropriate stock levels of pharmaceuticals (including medicines, fluids, and other products supplied by pharmacy), consumables and stationery
- Conducting regular expiry date checking, supplying and distributing pharmaceuticals to clinical and other areas (manual handling of boxes up to approximately 10kg, using appropriate equipment)
- Participating in rostered shifts including rotating rosters, weekends and public holidays, in line with the service requirements. Work is mostly available on (shift times may vary from 3 hours to 8 hours):
- Weekdays between 8.30am and 5.15pm, 5pm and 8pm
- Weekends and public holidays between 8.30am and 4.30pm, OR 12pm and 8pm
- Working flexibly across all sites as required, including travel to other Monash Health locations
About You
To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
- Evidence of your current enrolment into a pharmacy degree in Australia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in teams
- Ability to work with supervisors and take direction as requiredCommitment to continued professional development and education
- Previous community or hospital pharmacy student or technician experience in Australia (desirable)
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Attend face-to-face 2-day workshop in September 2026, and face-to-face 2-day workshop in October 2026, hosted by Monash Health Pharmacy Department. This support successful applicants to learn about working in a hospital environment. Topics include introduction to hospital pharmacy services, dispensary services and medication supply processes. Dates will be discussed at interview. Dates will be discussed with the successful applicants.
Mandatory requirements of the role
- Must be studying Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent and in their 2nd or 3rd year of studies
