About the Role
We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced pharmacy professional who has developed an interest and skills in formulary management. This is an ongoing full time role, part time applicants may be considered.
The Formulary Team work closely with other pharmacy and medical teams to manage the medication formulary, under the governance of the Monash Health Medication Safety and Therapeutics Committee.
The Formulary Team manage the medication formulary, including the review of single patient use requests and formulary applications, implement the pharmacy department procurement plan and manage medication shortages. As a pharmacy technician, you will manage the efficient, effective and timely sourcing of medicines not registered for use in Australia (via TGA Special Access Scheme and Medicines Access Programs) including ordering stock and maintaining appropriate database and TGA requirements.
Working closely with the pharmacy leadership team, team leaders and procurement teams, you will work across all Monash Health sites with a combination of physical and remote presence.
Day in the Life
Working closely with other pharmacy and medical teams, you’ll be recognised as a knowledge resource in therapeutic logistics, formulary management and the management of medication shortages.

About You
You already have hospital pharmacy experience and a genuine interest in medication formulary management. You are highly professional, lead by example and role-model expectations to others. Your positive approach is clear and people enjoy working with you.
Relevant postgraduate qualifications, such as master of clinical pharmacy or equivalent, will be highly regarded.
You can also demonstrate:
- Minimum of hree years' full-time experience as a qualified pharmacy technician
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience
- Skills and experience in supervision, training or mentoring
- Demonstrated leadership, negotiation and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer literacy skills and knowledge of information systems and technology
- Proactive and constructive approaches to problem solving for individual patients and service development.
