The Philanthropy Manager will play an integral role to substantially increase revenue through implementing a best-practice approach to secure transformative philanthropic gifts that enable Monash Health to deliver exceptional care, innovation, and community impact.

This will be achieved by developing strong, ongoing, and effective relationships with a portfolio including but not limited to high-net-worth individuals and trusts & foundations – researching, drafting and presenting proposals, making informed and timely asks and representing the Foundation at internal and external events.

This ongoing, part-time position (0.6 EFT) is based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. Flexible working arrangements may be considered where they align with business requirements.

The position requires travel to other Monash Health sites and meetings with stakeholders, therefore a valid Victorian driver’s licence is essential.

Identifying and developing a portfolio of existing and potential philanthropic relationships.

  • Managing a portfolio of relationships to cultivate, solicit and steward philanthropic gifts.

  • Timely and high quality delivery of reporting and engagement with donors focusing on donation impact.

  • Maintaining high quality records in the Foundation’s CRM and utilising progress reports as required.

  • Working closely with Foundation team members to plan and execute a series of engagement events for major donors and prospective donors.

  • Building and maintaining strong internal relationships with staff across Monash Health to better understand and convey funding opportunities and reporting impact back to donors.

  • Actively promoting the work of Monash Health by conveying specific needs to donors and the community, through strategic relationship building and considered and timely asks.

Technical Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • Experience in and an understanding of the Australian philanthropic community.

  • Experience in major and mid-level donor fundraising in a not-for-profit setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop a variety of philanthropic relationships, and to make ‘the ask’.

  • Demonstrated ability to steward philanthropic relationships.

  • Experience in applying creative approaches to major gifts fundraising.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and creatively and strong organisational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external and in a team environment.

  • High level report and proposal writing, research, and presentation skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and stakeholder relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and appropriately represent the Foundation and Monash Health.

  • Great time management and prioritising skills.
