About Monash Infectious Diseases

Monash Infectious Diseases is an academic clinical unit at Monash Health.  Our vision is to improve the overall health of our community by preventing, equitably treating and advancing our knowledge of infectious diseases.  We aim to provide high quality care for patients, advocate for them and their diverse communities, and support and improve this with research and education.  We also aim to support and educate each other in a collegial and collaborative culture.  The unit provides infectious diseases care at all major Monash Health campuses, making it one of the largest services in Australia.  Key clinical and research areas include: clinical infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, infections in immunocompromised populations, mycobacterial infections and care for patients with HIV.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the Program Medical Director, Specialty Medicine the position has accountability for the effective management and leadership of the portfolio and the provision of services across Monash Health consistent with Monash Health’s Strategic and Clinical Service plans. As a member of the Monash Health Senior Management Team the appointee will provide leadership in achieving and upholding Monash Health’s Vision, Purpose and Values.

  • The position is a joint appointment between Monash Health and School of Clinical Sciences, Monash University and sits within the Specialty Medicine Program.
  • As this is a joint appointment with Monash University, this position will also report to the Professor of Medicine, Monash University academically on matters related to research and education.
  • The position is accountable to both Monash Health and Monash University, the appointment panel and performance management reviews will have representatives from both institutions, with the requirement of both organisations to be met.
  • Emerging leaders, those at Level D, are encouraged to apply.
