About the Role
Project Manager - MCHRI (Monash Centre for Health Research & Implementation), Monash Medical Centre Clayton
Employment Type: Fixed-Term Part time
Start/ End Date: Late June/July 2026 - July 2027 (5–year position with annual contract renewal)
Hours pw: 22.8 – 30.4 hours per week (0.6 – 0.8FTE)
Salary range pa: HS3
Position Summary
We seek to fill a Project Manager position. The incumbent will provide project management and coordination skills to support the Holistic Antenatal Pathways and Empowerment in PCOS Pregnancy (HOPE-PCOS) initiative in implementing an evidence-based PCOS pregnancy model of care across multiple healthcare settings. They will have extensive project management experience in health sector research, particularly in implementation science and/or women's health; and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences including healthcare organisations, consumer groups, international collaborators, and policymakers across various mediums and platforms.
The position requires sound communication and teamwork skills, the ability to work in a flexible and dynamic manner, and superior organisational skills including the ability to set priorities, manage substantial project budgets, plan work to meet competing deadlines across multiple work packages, and work effectively under pressure. Additionally, this role will oversee governance structures, risk mitigation strategies, study documentation and reporting, ethics approvals across multiple sites, and provide essential support for all steering committee and work package meetings. A demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, privacy and information handling principles is essential.
The Project Manager works directly with the co-leads of the HOPE-PCOS project team, supervise project staff, and coordinate activities across all six work packages of this ambitious five-year stepped-wedge implementation trial.
About Monash Centre for Health Research and Implementation (MCHRI), School of Public Health, Monash University and Monash Health
MCHRI sits under the Facility of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. Established in 2005, MCHRI has grown from 3 to 180 staff and students. This is a partnership centre across Monash University and Monash Health and provides an implementation laboratory for research and translation embedded and integrated into healthcare. MCHRI works with broader reach across Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, nationally and internationally in our research and translation endeavours. Our vision is to create, synthesise, implement and translate clinical, health care and public health knowledge, underpinned by cross sector end user engagement, to deliver health impact. MCHRI has led organisational and individual leadership support programs in healthcare for nearly a decade.
About the Role
The Project Manager key purpose is to provide comprehensive project management and coordination expertise to support the implementation research initiative in accordance with strategic objectives and funding requirements; to plan, execute and monitor activities across all six work packages, ensuring deliverables are completed on-time and within scope and budget, to enable and drive impact through the collective work of the HOPE-PCOS team and partner organisations.
Project Management:
- Ensuring timelines and deliverables across all work packages are met in accordance with MRFF funding body and stakeholder requirements, and that risks are identified and mitigated.
- Effectively lead the project team to meet deliverables within specified deadlines while fostering collaborative team culture.
- Development and maintenance of project management systems to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and collaboration, including project plans, schedules, budget monitoring, and milestone tracking across the five-year program.
- Oversee study documentation and reporting requirements across multiple sites and coordinate ethics approvals and amendments.
Governance and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Coordinate Steering Committee, Consumer Advisory Committee, and Stakeholder Advisory Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, documentation and action tracking.
- Manage relationships with partner organisations including healthcare services, consumer groups, professional bodies, and international collaborators.
- Support consumer and community involvement activities, ensuring authentic partnership approaches aligned with NHMRC principles.
- Coordinate and contribute to documentation and outputs including reports, presentations, policy briefs, conference papers, implementation toolkits, and dissemination materials.
- Planning and coordinating project events, workshops, and knowledge translation activities.
Research Support:
- Support coordination as needed across work packages.
- Preparation, updating and oversight of ethics applications across multiple implementation sites.
- Contribute to research activities including registry development, implementation evaluation, and knowledge translation outputs.
About You:
- Tertiary qualification in health or social sciences, STEM, education or related discipline.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence.
- Obtained or working towards relevant qualification in project management, administration, communications and/or marketing.
- Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
- Experience in project management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects/initiatives effectively
- Excellent evaluation, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to solve problems in an agile proactive manner.
- High capacity for multi-tasking, prioritisation and managing competing deadlines.
- Ability to exercise high levels of autonomy, while at the same time working effectively in a team-based environment.
- Superior interpersonal and relationship-building skills, proficiency in stakeholder management and leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated content knowledge in the fields of gender equity and/or diversity/inclusion
- Expertise in health sector and/or academic environments.
- High-level communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Preferred qualitative, evaluation and/or implementation research expertise.
- Excellent computer literacy.
