About the Role - Paediatric Psycologist Grade 2, School Readiness Program (Full-Time)

The Psychologist,  will work with kindergarten educators and families in their communities to build capacity to support young children’s learning in the areas of communication (speech, language and communication development), motor skills (fine and gross motor development) and wellbeing (social and emotional development and regulation). You will enhance the professional and parenting practices of educators and families – using evidence-based practice. The Psychologist will work along side Occupational Therapist and Speech Therapist. The allied health clinicians will work in collaboration with educators and families to build their capability to create an environment for kindergarten aged children that promotes: 

  • improved speech, language, social interaction and early literacy outcomes 

  • self-regulation and positive and pro-social behaviours 

  • Social and emotional wellbeing and mastery of everyday tasks. 

The allied health clinicians will be required to: 

  • work collaboratively with kindergartens and DET area staff across Dandenong , Casey and Cardinia area to plan for how they will utilise their allied health entitlement 

  • build the capability of educators and families to support children through coaching, modelling, group training, case consultation support and other discipline specific services 

  • provide child focussed psychology, occupational therapy and speech pathology support to kindergartens and to families and communities. 

  • travel to kindergartens within Dandenong , Casey and Cardinia  area 

  • Provide some appointment based phone, email and skype support to educators and families. 

  • Provide some group based interventions, as required.

The team will be required to work in an outreach model of care as well as at the community health centre and Kindergartens. 

Services will be provided in line with the protocols of the organization and will reflect the Social Model of Health and Health Promotion philosophies.
