Take your nursing career further in cardiac care, where specialist practice, complex patients and continuous learning come together.

If cardiac nursing is where you want to take your career, there is no better place to develop your knowledge, clinical judgement and confidence than in an environment dedicated entirely to heart care.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join Ward 7B at the Victorian Heart Hospital, caring for patients across Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Heart Failure within a highly specialised cardiac service.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse on Ward 7B, you will provide safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients with a diverse range of cardiac conditions and increasingly complex healthcare needs.

You will:

  • Work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, to deliver safe, evidence-based cardiac care, recognise and respond to clinical deterioration, and support patients and families throughout their care journey.
  • Contribute to a collaborative ward environment, sharing your knowledge and taking accountability for safe, high-quality care.
  • Bring cardiac experience or strong acute nursing skills, and take this opportunity to build your cardiac expertise, learn from experienced clinicians and continue to grow your career in cardiac nursing.

Fulltime, part-time, and fixed term full/part-time opportunities available working across a 24/7 rotating roster – Monday to Sunday, including night duty

About Us

The Victorian Heart Hospital is Australia’s first and only dedicated, stand-alone cardiac hospital, bringing specialist cardiac services together within one purpose-built facility.

You will be part of a wider cardiac service with access to specialist expertise across the hospital, including:

  • Cardiac catheterisation laboratories
  • Cardiothoracic operating theatres
  • Cardiac Intensive Care
  • Cardiac Emergency
  • Specialist cardiac diagnostic, procedural and inpatient services

About You

We are looking for more than someone who can simply perform the clinical requirements of the role. We want a nurse who is curious, clinically engaged, accountable and genuinely motivated to develop within cardiac nursing.

To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate:

  • Strong acute nursing capability within an inpatient setting.
  • Ability to assess, recognise deterioration and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Relevant cardiac experience, ideally in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Heart Failure or Critical Care.
  • Sound clinical judgement with the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.
  • Genuine passion for cardiac nursing and developing specialist knowledge.
  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to patient and family-centred care.
  • Professional accountability and commitment to ongoing development.
  • Strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Adaptable, organised and able to work a 24/7 rotating roster.

What you need:

  • You will hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Current or recent Cardiac or Cardiothoracic Surgical nursing experience.
  • Experience within an acute or critical care environment.
  • Completion of, or progress towards, postgraduate qualifications in Cardiac or Critical Care Nursing.

In Return:

At the Victorian Heart Hospital, your development does not need to stop with this role.

You will work in an environment that supports nurses to continue building their cardiac knowledge and progress professionally through education, clinical development and further study. Opportunities include access to:

  • Monash Health learning and professional development resources
  • Clinical education, mentorship and career guidance
  • Transition Into Cardiac Care (TICC) development opportunities
  • Postgraduate cardiac and critical care studies
  • Further development in leadership, education, quality improvement and project work
  • Postgraduate and Master's pathways through affiliation with Monash University

Whether you already have cardiac experience or are ready to make cardiac nursing the next chapter of your career, Ward 7B offers the opportunity to learn, contribute and grow within one of Australia's most specialised cardiac environments.

If you are ready to invest in your cardiac nursing career, we would love to hear from you.
