About Ward 31 South - Neurosciences 

Ward 31 South is an acute 26-bed Neurosurgical unit, including 8 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. We provide care for patients with a various range of conditions including neurological, post neurosurgical intervention and those requiring complex neurosurgery.

 

About the Role

We currently have a number of opportunities for suitable skilled registered nurses to join our team. Full time permanent, part time permanent and fixed term part time positions are available; all working across a rotating roster (24 hours /7 days).

Being part of the 31 South team, you will be exposed to complex surgical procedures that will see your nursing knowledge and clinical skills and competence grow incredibly.

  • You will be involved with the care of Neurosurgery, Neurology, Vascular and General Medical patients.
  • You will have exposure to Neurosurgical presentations including spinal, pituitary and brain surgery patients, intracranial bleeds and exposure to EVDs.
  • You will care for patients with varying levels of acuity and patient management from admission through to discharge.

Growth and education for our nursing team is a key focus at Jessie McPherson Private Hospital. We encourage all staff to further their knowledge through the support of Post Graduate studies and career advancement into clinical specialist roles within the unit. We have a dedicated education team on the ward allowing our team easy access to support and resources when they need. We practice a team nursing model of care allowing for mentoring and peer to peer support. 

  

 

About You:

You are a Registered Nurse with demonstrated clinical skills including experience working with acute neurosurgical, neurology and vascular patients. You will:

  • Utilise your clinical knowledge and skills to deliver a high standard of safe patient centred care, and provide exceptional customer service to all consumers.
  • Ensure timely discharge planning and facilitate the consumer’s safe and effective transition from hospital.
  • Make sure all clinical concerns are escalated appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Establish a willingness to participate in quality and safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills and adapting to changing situations readily.

 

What you need:

  • Demonstrated experience within an acute surgical inpatient unit or similar
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Relevant working rights/visa
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Evidence of a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Availability to work across a rotating roster
