About The Role

Join our team as a Registered Nurse in Paediatric Intensive Care, in ongoing full or part time positions, at Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton.

 

We are excited to be offering positions for experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) looking to advance their career in Paediatric Intensive Care.

 

Our nursing team offer specialist care for critically unwell children with complex surgical and medical conditions. As an RN in PICU, you will deliver safe, compassionate clinical care, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve best practice family centred care.

 

As a new member of our team you will work through a dedicated induction and education support process with the opportunity to undertake further education and professional development opportunities. You will engage in reflective, analytical practice through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct patient and family-centred care.

About Us

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 19,000 people across a range of specialities. Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) cares for more than 100,000 children per year, providing care across the continuum of paediatric services from birth to 18 years of age.  It is one of the largest children’s hospitals in Australia and one of only two tertiary paediatric hospitals in Victoria.

 

The Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a dedicated Paediatrics Tertiary 10 bed Unit with a complex patient mix and is only one of 2 Paediatric intensive care referral units for the State of Victoria. PICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and admits over 600 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric as well as surgical conditions.

 

PICU is led by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic team of medical, nursing, administration and support service staff and committed allied health professionals. We believe in supporting each other, in being kind and in providing the very best care to the children and families in our unit.
 
About You
You have recent acute clinical/critical care experience in paediatric/adult nursing.  You lead by example, thrive on working in a dynamic, fast paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence based nursing care to all children at Monash Health. You are an advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles and iCARE values.
The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team with the sole purpose of delivering exceptional patient centred care in a family friendly environment is our common goal.
 
What You Need

  • Current clinical nursing experience in acute paediatric nursing (preferably critical care)
  • Current nursing experience in critical care or emergency department settings preferred
  • A Postgraduate qualification in Paediatric Critical Care is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal & professional development
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Ability to work well under pressure & be flexible to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team & autonomously as required
  • The ability to work across a fully rotational 7 day roster, inlcuding AM, PM and ND.  There may be capacity for permanent Night Duty as well.
