Our Journey

PICU at Monash Children’s Hospital is a dedicated paediatric tertiary 10 bed unit with a complex patient mix, and is one of only 2 Paediatric Intensive Care referral units for the State of Victoria. PICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and admits over 700 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric as well as surgical conditions.

 

A Day in the Life.

PICU is led by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic team of medical, nursing, administration and support service staff and committed allied health professionals. We believe in supporting each other, in being kind and in providing the very best care to the children and families in our unit.

We are excited to be offering positions for experienced critical care Registered Nurses (RN). Our nursing team offer specialist care for critically unwell children with complex surgical and medical conditions, and we pride ourselves on the compassionate care we provide to our patients and their families.

 

About you

If you have a passion for caring for critically unwell children and their families, and are ready to start a new chapter in your critical care nursing career, we want you to join our PICU team!  You are a nurse who has experience in a critical care environment, Paediatric or Adult, and you understand the importance of family centred care in this area. You enjoy acting as a mentor to those around you and you practicing the Monash iCare values comes naturally to you. Clear and effective communication is one of your strengths as you will be working closely with a large and experienced multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for our patients.

  • You lead by example and know how to take charge when the situation warrants it
  • You are someone who engages in reflective, analytical practice through effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of direct patient and family-centred care
  • You are enthusiastic, compassionate and able to work collaboratively and with kindness
  • You are truly passionate about working with Paediatric patients and their families

 

What you need

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Recent clinical nursing experience in a critical care settings such as intensive care & emergency department (preferably paediatrics)
  • Effective communication skills with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • To be an excellent team player with a proven commitment to a positive work culture
