About Us
McCulloch House is a dedicated centre of excellence in palliative care and oncology, offering symptom management and end-of-life care to inpatients with complex needs—a purpose-built 16-bed palliative care unit supporting approximately 500 patients per year. We aim to assess the needs of patients and their caregivers with symptom management and supportive care.
Located at Monash Medical Centre (Clayton), McCulloch House liaises closely with acute wards and community teams to provide the best evidence-based supportive and palliative care. We also support research and education to improve the knowledge base in this unique area.
About the Role
An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to expand their experience and passion in Palliative Care, working across a rotating roster, 7 days a week.
You will make a difference by supporting patients and working closely with families to provide holistic care in a supportive environment, both autonomously and collaboratively, alongside a wide variety of medical specialties. We work with a commitment to providing patient centred palliative care for people with advanced life limiting illnesses, their families and carers.
We look to build strong rapport and to have confidence in our nursing team providing patient advocacy and preservation of dignity in end of life care or management of their circumstances.
*Please note: this position is a part time ongoing position at 0.8 EFT (64 hours per fortnight) *
What you Bring:

You are an experienced Palliative Care Nurse with a comprehensive understanding of Palliative Care and a genuine passion and interest in this unique environment.

With excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, you have the resilience to manage your responsibilities across a variable unit as part of a devoted team.

You understand the importance of patient centred care and have a genuine interest in working and interacting with our diverse patients.

A compassionate manner, advocating for patients in their vulnerable state
- You have a demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, practice development and evidence-based practice.
What you need:

Relevant Qualifications in Palliative Care Nursing- highly desirable

You hold a current AHPRA registration and employee level working with Children’s Check teamed with Australian working rights - essential
