About the Role:

  • Join our team as a Registered Perioperative Nurse on an ongoing fulltime or part time basis, to work in Anaesthetics and Recovery across the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) based at Clayton.

  • There is an on-call requirement to the role to facilitate 24/7 care outside of business hours as needed.

 

As a Registered Nurse within the team in the Operating Theatre at VHH, you will provide nursing care for cardiac patients as required. You will work closely to directly support our professional team and ensure the safety of our patients at one of their most vulnerable states. Taking a team approach  to the delivery of care, our primary focus is on a patient's safe journey through theatre. We have a strong commitment to education  and encourage our teams  to further develop their skills while working in our  friendly environment.  

 

As an Anaesthetics and PACU nurse you will:

  • Work in collaboration with the Anaesthetists to provide excellent patient care to any area within VHH that requires Anaesthetic support. These areas include Cardiac theatre, Cardiac Cath Lab, Diagnostic Imaging including CT and MRI where anaesthetic is indicated.
  • Provide Anaesthetic support during the induction phase of Anaesthesia and aid in the maintenance/monitoring of the patients’ status intraoperatively.
  • Monitor and provide care for patients in their post-operative phase prior to transfer to the ward/ICU.

About You:

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Proven and extensive clinical experience within Anaesthetics/Recovery (essential)
  • Further studies; Post graduate qualifications to perioperative nursing and advanced nursing care (desirable)
  • Flexibility to manage the on call component of the role.
  • Clear, articulate communication with exceptional time management skills coupled with ability to deliver holistic patient centred care
  • Current AHPRA registration and eligibility to work in Australia
